Hummus with Mushrooms and Caramelized Onion

If you love your hummus, but you want to spice it up a little – try this recipe for Hummus with Mushrooms and Caramelized Onion! It takes less than 10 minutes to make! It can be used for sandwiches, on top of your favorite salad or simply as a dip for your veggies/chips!

  • 150 g chickpeas
  • 100 g sliced mushrooms
  • 50 g diced onion
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tbsp tahini
  • ½ tsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp curry powder
  • 2 fresh basil leaves
  • garlic powder
  • black pepper
  • salt to taste
  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat and add onion. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add mushrooms and season with black pepper, garlic powder and salt. Cook for another 4-5 minutes.
  3. Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth. If the hummus is too thick - add 2-3 tbsp of water.
